ANATOMY
These are all incredibly old drawings/references for the species (with lots of little mistakes here and there lol), please feel free to follow as much or little as you like.
SPARK PLATES
The spark plates on a Kjaku are always "segmented", while remaining in the smooth shape of a tear drop. The colors of a spark plate usually reflects upon the Kjaku's own coloration- hence the idea that the plates give them their color. For example, a red Kjaku may have a spark plate of red shades and lights. The colors on the spark plates do not always match up exactly with the coloration of the Kjaku, but the colors are always at least similar.
When it comes down to the action of "brightening", Kjaku either do it with the intention of fun or creation! When the case is creation, however, a Kjaku must 'brighten' alongside a partner- both must have the same shared intent or nothing will happen. For this reason, accidental creation does not exist amongst Kjaku. If the connection between the two during the brightening is strong enough, the magic from deep within the world grants the two individuals an orb of light (or sometimes, two orbs if they're lucky!) The orb of light later develops into a baby Kjaku (also known as "Yipper"). Due to the nature of brightening, biological gender doesn't matter between the two partners.
When, however, in the case of fun, Kjaku notably use "brightening" as an effective way to celebrate some holidays! The sheer power of their spark plates glowing in the night is enough to create a beautiful atmosphere, and joy for all!

ANTHRO
Kjaku are capable of standing upright or on all fours as they wish- it's certainly not uncommon to find one transitioning between positions a whole bunch! Whether it's an artist's art style or not, both- "anthro" Kjaku and "feral" are canonical!
Kjaku stand upright in accordance to their own preferences- and with that said, it's certainly easy to find a bunch of the two postures roaming around alongside each other.
